The wedding anniversaries of longtime Oberlin residents Francis and Norma Bishop are celebrated with rock paintings a decade apart. The older painting is the first photo of a rock painted in the 1990’s on the site.

The Class of 1898 monument is painted to salute the 50 year anniversary of local doctors Jim and Jeanne Stephens.  Photos taken on June 21, 1987.  Below are Jane Nord, Demmie Carrell, and Mary Louise Van Dyke in the midst of painting. Thanks to Mary Louise Van Dyke for sending along the photos.

This photo of the Class of 1882 monument was published in the Chronicle-Telegram on May 22,1983. The article was sent to Oberlin Rocks by Eva Greenberg – Thanks, Eva. It also contained a photo of a rock painted in August of 1982.

This photo of the Class of 1898 monument was taken on March 22, 2009.

This photo of the Stewart/Shipherd memorial was taken August, 16, 2008. The rock was painted by Ann Longsworth Orr and her two children on the way from Ohio to North Carolina where the extended family gathered for a celebration of the fiftieth wedding anniversary (August 16, 1958) of her parents, Bob and Carol Longsworth.
