Sue Copeland Jones writes:   “The Shipherd/Stewart rock was painted on May 2, 1976 by my son David Meek (perched on top) and his Oberlin school friends, including Troy Hill (looking on at left), Kurt Ackermann, John Bukovac, Lucan Way, Ben Sabiers and Jason Pearson. I (David’s mom Sue) painted the main message,  then let them loose to decorate the rest of it.  I must have given them some pretty good smocks, because I can’t see any drips or drabs…   Afterwards, home to cake and ice cream.  David lived in Oberlin from age 3 mo. until he graduated from Oberlin High School in 1987, spent a year in Chicago, and then attended and graduated from Wesleyan University in CT.”     Thanks for the photo, Sue.
