Oberlin Rocks presents Founders’ Monument

The Founders’ Monument is unveiled at the Centennial Commencement on June 17,1933. President Ernest Wilkins, right, and James T. Fairchild, son of James T. Fairchild, 1833, and grandson of James H. Fairchild. The rock of gneissoid granite is from the farm of Edwin Hill, west of Berlin Hts. in Erie County, and is his gift to Oberlin College. The plaque reads:
“In Memory of
John J. Shipherd
Philo P. Stewart
Dedicated June 17, 1933″
