Oberlin Rocks presents “We’re making history”

These photos were taken of the Shipherd/Stewart memorial rock on August 8, 2008. The Oberlin Heritage Center is the “community’s historical society and historic preservation organization.”

Rock painters have been buying their supplies at Watson Hardware on South Main Street for decades.

Thank you for posting a photo of our painting of the rock, when we led a summer camp called “History Makers.” The campers kept journals, took photos around town, visited the newspaper, made oral histories, and painted the rock as they learned about how they, too, are part of history.
